Pastor Dave

11-22-11

Thank you for your continued prayer support of our Pastor, Dave Brown.  For the most part, things have gone well of late and Dave continues to teach God’s Word faithfully each Sunday.  We are grateful to God for this blessing.
Dave had an MRI last Wednesday to see the effects of the radiation and chemotherapy.  There were some positive results given Dave and Carla yesterday.  It does seem that the radiation and chemo is having some effect and that the tumor is being impacted from the inside out.  The doctors were encouraged by this and have decided to increase the dosage of chemo that he is taking in hopes for an even greater impact.  Praise the Lord!
He is currently on a maintenance chemotherapy schedule where he takes it for 5 days in a row, once a month.  This week is his chemo week for this month.  The effects of the chemo on Dave have been minor in comparison to what they could be.  We are grateful for this as well.
And so, as we are in the week of Thanksgiving, we as a church have much to be thankful for.  We are especially thankful for all of you that are praying and supporting us in this time.  May God bless you this Thanksgiving holiday.

On July 9, 2011 Pastor Dave was diagnosed with a brain tumor.  The tumor was found to be malignant and inoperable.  Further treatment options are being discussed at this time.  We continue to pray for Pastor Dave and his family in this difficult time and ask that you would join us.  Thank you.  If you are interested in receiving updates on Pastor Dave’s condition, please send Pastor Khris an email indicating so to: live860@gmail.com.

Thanks to everyone who prayed for direction this past weekend.  Upon meeting with the radiologist, Dave has decided to pursue the radiation/chemotherapy route.  His age and relative good health makes him a good candidate for this type of therapy, and the side effects do not seem as harsh as some types of treatment.  The doctor also seemed to feel that Dave could continue his normal life routine while being treated, which is a plus.  We left the office feeling pretty positive.

Dave will get a cat scan on Wednesday and will be fitted for the radiation.  God still has time to shrink or remove this tumor by then!  That would be an incredible testimony.

Either way, we look to Him to supply all of our needs.

This has been a week of various appointments for Pastor Dave.  As Carla said in the update on Monday, Dave has decided to treat the tumor with radiation and chemotherapy.  So there have been fittings for the helmet he will wear during his treatments.  It is their hope that treatment will start next week.  The radiation is a low enough dose that he will receive it 5 days a week for 6 weeks.

Praise the Lord for He is good.  We got word today from Carla that Pastor Dave’s tumor is reacting to the radiation and has shrunk a little bit.  While this is not the miraculous complete healing we were all hoping for, it is wonderful news.  It was initially projected that the tumor may even grow in size with the first 3 weeks of treatment.  So the fact that it shrank rather than grew is amazing.
The doctors have also seen fit to decrease his steroid treatments from 3 types to 2 types.  This too is good news.
This by no means is a call to stop praying!  He is still undergoing radiation and chemotherapy, so we need to continue on our knees on behalf of Pastor Dave.

I know that had been a while since we had updated anything on Pastor
Dave.  It is hard to believe that that it was 8 months ago today that
we got the news that would change our lives.  Our Pastor has a massive
brain tumor.

And yet here we are 8 months later.  Pastor Dave continues to
faithfully lead the church through the word of God week in and week
out.  We are so grateful to our God that the side effects from the
tumor have been minimal.  He has had some dizziness at times and
fatigue, but other than that he is good-ol’-Dave.

Dave has 2 more months of maintenance chemotherapy and then he will be
done with all treatments.  He will not receive any more unless the
effects of the tumor worsen.  If that is the case, when that time
comes, they will determine the best treatment for the situation.

We as a church are so grateful for all the well wishes and fervent
prayers that have been offered on behalf of Pastor Dave, his family
and our church.  We would ask that you continue to pray, thanking God
for all that He has done, and asking that His will would continue be
done in the future. Again, thank you for joining us in this journey
and walking with us through this valley.  May God be praised.
